PunkinFutz Survival Guide No. 48

RESOURCES, EVENTS, TIPS, AND SUPPORT ALL IN ONE PLACE, EVERY MONDAY.

What about Adaptive Exercise?
In my research this week on adaptive exercise, I found a lot of really amazing resources - like knock your socks off resources!  There is something here for every body!  I was inspired to do this topic by our terrific Mother-Son guests for our Wednesdays at Noon this week.  Be sure to check them out (details just before A Bit of Fun)!
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai Hospital is a terrific resource.  On their portal you can find everything from meditation to seated fitness to adaptive boxing.  And be sure not to miss their HUGE list of free Adaptive/Inclusive Home Workouts resources (scroll halfway down the page).
United Spinal also has an amazing resource list.  Check it out by State, by sport or by adaptive exercise resource - a terrific list!
11 short Adaptive Exercise Videos are available on YouTube from The University of Kentucky's Human Development Institute.  The first one is available below:
Adaptive Yoga and Adaptive Exercise Classes are available free from the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab.  You can start them here.  Don't miss their 5 arm stretches to help with COVID vaccine soreness (you have to wait through the commercial, though).

How to Exercise with Limited Mobility by Lawrence Robinson and Jeanne Segal, Ph.D.

A lot of this article is common sense, but I enjoyed reading it, anyway.
Wow!  Another amazing treasure trove of resources for fitness!  Be sure to check out School of Strength and Fit5 Fitness Series!
Move United uses the power of sport to push what’s possible for people with disabilities, confronting ignorance, fueling conversation, and inciting action that leads us to a world where everyone’s included.
