Spotlight on OT image

We first met Maribel at the 2020 NYSOTA conference! We thought it was sooo cool that she transformed the conference program into a coloring page. In true PunkinFutz style, we wanted to know more and find ways to work with her because we knew she was on her way to greatness as an OT and Visual Artist! Well, we weren’t wrong. Since then, Maribel has passed her NBCOT and is now a licensed Occupational Therapist. We are so proud of her accomplishments and know this is only the beginning of this rising star’s journey!

Maribel is a graduate of Hofstra University from the Class of 2020 with her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. Since the pandemic, she resides in her hometown of Jersey City, NJ. During this time, she has completed her fieldwork with the New York State Occupational Therapy Association (NYSOTA) as part of her education. This would eventually lead to her position with NYSOTA as the Chair of Student Affairs. Maribel also just received her certification as a registered occupational therapist and is open to many possibilities for her career. In particular, she would like to work with individuals with cancer and be a part of their rehabilitation process. Maribel also has a passion for the visual arts and is considering how to incorporate her talents as an artist into her treatment sessions.

Surround yourself with a good social support system throughout your OT journey. This can include friends, family, and your OT colleagues. They will motivate you in making your dreams come true.
